Pros

  • Smartwings makes amazing ones and has motors that work with zigbee, thread (MoT), and zwave. On my zigbee ones the battery life is amazing moving up and down every day.
  • Smartwings offers great ones and have options for zigbee, zwave, and MoT
  • I'll second Smartwings: medium price, good quality, easy to set up, excellent customer support.
  • Smartwings are probably the better quality and have all the options (Zwave, Zigbee, etc). I've had really good results with them.
  • I just wrapped up a smartwings install of my own and was pretty blown away by the customer service and install experiences. I know they're likely just branding white label products (I've seen the exact same motors and remotes being sold...

Cons

  • I will say their website was a hot mess, and they let me order 5-item remote controls without telling me I needed the 15-item remote controls for these blinds, so that is one failure on their part
  • But seems there is nothing available any more except SmartWings which is crazy expensive
  • Smartwings has internal lithium ion batteries that are not user replaceable and when they fail you cannot use the blinds directly off wall or solar power.
  • Smart blinds, hardwired if possible- Smartwings does matter over poe or they do regular powered shades- or battery with a solar charger.
  • Looks like smartwings and yoolax don't offer anything that big.

I just wrapped up a smartwings install of my own and was pretty blown away by the customer service and install experiences. I know they're likely just branding white label products (I've seen the exact same motors and remotes being sold by other vendors), but they're worth the price for the customer support alone.

SmartWings customer service was excellent during the order process. I had them send me an email guaranteeing that I could send the blinds back for a full refund if the shipper demanded I pay tariffs. they happily did so. Just two weeks later, all my blinds arrived. No tariffs on my end!!!!

+1 for SmartWings. Try to get them with power attached, so that they don’t have to stand on a ladder to charge them.

+1 for Smartwings with the wall remotes.

We used SmartWings specifically because of their wall-mounted remotes. They function just like a standard light switch so there is zero learning curve for older folks.
