Pros
- I use SimpliSafe and have been pretty happy with their central monitoring / response. What’s nice is that you can selectively choose what options to install and it’s all DIY.
- I self installed a Simplisafe system for much less than your proposal. It costs me about $30/month for monitoring. Works great. All wireless, so no need to run wires.
- The second best advice is get the most dead-simple setup possible, which is likely SimpliSafe.
- Simplisafe is good
- My other half said all her friends like SimpliSafe, which is another wireless option.
Cons
- Simplisafe or blink alarm system
- I'm looking at DIY options like SimpliSafe, Ring Alarm, and Wyze versus professional monitoring from ADT or Vivint.
- I am much more likely to seek out products that they talk about than like, listening to the millionth ad for simplisafe on a bigger podcast.
- Simplisafe is pretty much garbage, but their sensors are fine, just suuuuper easy to jam with a $5 transmitter. I have one in my home and it's just not great.

Another option is to just get a DIY alarm system like simplisafe, ring, nest, et cetera. Then set it to home mode and get sensors for the doors.
