Seachem Prime

Pros

• If not, I would test the water every couple of days for the first couple weeks and be prepared with Seachem prime/water changes if there are ammonia spikes which will make the fish sick.
• Get some Seachems prime, or any water dechlorinator to treat replacement water.
• If you see any ammonia or nitrites it’s time for a good water change and a small dose of seachem prime.
• if not, with such a bad water to fish ratio, you should be doing daily water changes to prevent ammonia spikes, and use something like Seachem Prime to help with bacteria.
• Use tap water and a dechlorinator like seachem prime.

Cons

• Seachem Prime has been helping but even then it is slowly returning 4 days after adding seachem prime to my filter.
• You're probably looking at $100-$200 if you buy everything new from a big box store, depending on the betta you choose, the plants you choose, substrate, other decor... plus getting the API master test kit, Declorinator like Seachem Prim...
• Prime's ammonia-detoxifications claims were tested and found to not work at all.
• When ammonia spikes do not rely on seachem prime to detoxify anything either- no evidence exists that it does, they take advantage of people with that and there *is* evidence that it's completely bogus... That said I use prime as a condi...
