Saponificio Varesino

SV is at the very top of the food chain. If you haven’t tried it, it’s probably better than what you’re using. (Yes that includes Xpec, MdC, ABC, and the best artisan lines.)

Martin de Candre and Saponificio Varesino if you want a more luxury brand.

MdC and Saponificio Varesino. Higher upfront costs but they will last longer than artisan goop.

My experience is similar, if I hydrate SV too much in the first pass all I am left is with foamy airy mess for the third pass. The residual slickness is godly, and somewhat does the job but it’s better to not hydrate so much in the first pass.

SV is a triple milled soap, though. So it will last much longer than the softer B+M, at least twice as long, so I would say they have about the same cost per shave

B&M make great soaps but Saponificio Varesino is even better.

Saponificio varesino makes some of the best soap (and aftershave) around. It’s expensive but really great.

Let me tell you about my favorite soap, this is my SV collection and I genuinely enjoy every single one of them. With most brands there’s always a mix of scents I like and ones I don’t, but SV is the only one where every single scent works for me.
