Reddit take

AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

Samsung phones are generally regarded as premium devices with industry-leading displays and strong long-term software support, though recent sentiment is weighed down by persistent hardware issues and software bloat. While users appreciate the high-end build quality and customization options, there are recurring complaints regarding camera performance on moving subjects and a perceived lack of innovation in newer models.

Pros

  • Long-term commitment to security updates
  • High-quality, premium hardware feel
  • Industry-leading display quality
  • Extensive software customization options
  • Natural video color reproduction

Cons

  • Noticeable shutter lag causing blur in moving objects
  • Significant amount of non-deletable bloatware, especially on carrier versions
  • Hardware reliability concerns, specifically green or pink lines appearing on screens
  • Perceived lack of significant upgrades between recent generations
  • Slower charging speeds compared to some competitors

Caveats

  • Some users report faster-than-expected battery degradation over time
  • Physical designs have been criticized for becoming increasingly thick and heavy
  • Camera performance is polarizing, with some finding colors too saturated and skin tones inaccurate

Best for

  • Users who value long-term software support and security
  • Those prioritizing display quality and premium build materials
  • Power users who enjoy deep software customization

Avoid if

  • You primarily take photos of moving subjects like pets or children
  • You prefer a clean, 'stock' Android experience without pre-installed apps
  • You are looking for the fastest charging speeds available on the market

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older (median age ~396 days), which may reduce its accuracy for the very latest flagship releases in this fast-changing product category.

Samsung hasn't updated anything worthwhile on their phones since S23, the next S26 is about to be the same.

Though Samsung phones are great they have a lot of bloatware that comes with it. if it’s a carrier version you’ll likely get hit with the carrier start screen as well and having Samsung apps that you may not use but can’t delete. They are good phones though with a lot more customization.
