Pros
- I finally splurged a little bit and bought a bottle of Russell's Reserve Single Barrel - which is actually my first barrel proof bourbon. I will say that it blew my mind compared to what I've had previously. I don't quite have the palate...
- Russell’s Reserve single barrel is right in that sweet spot too.
- You could look for some Wild Turkey bourbons: Wild Turkey 101 8yr, Wild Turkey Rare Breed, Russell's Reserve 10yr, Russell's Reserve Single Barrel are all solid bottles in your price range.
- The store pick and the open SiB are both delicious!
- To me, RRSiB has more depth/complexity as the oak & tobacco notes are more noticeable, the caramel is richer & it’s exceptionally well balanced overall.
Cons
- I like it but this one was difficult to break down which adds to its value at $65 which is what I paid. To have a bourbon this complex under $80 I think is worth the buy, but my final answer is Sample.
- I’m a big Turkey fan but am disappointed with my first RR single barrel purchase—it has a distinct cardboardy note that I dislike and is too prevalent to ignore.

I will say that it blew my mind compared to what I've had previously. I don't quite have the palate right now to do a full review with tasting notes but mouthfeel was thicker and oilier than anything I've had before and flavors were bold and powerful to a degree I have not experienced before.

My favorite readily available bottle atm.
Overall, this is for someone who like their bourbon bold. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Russell's Reserve 10 year or Single Barrel. Everytime I sip it I think to myself "If someone asked me for a Bourbon, this is bourbon what I would pour for them."
