Pros

  • I don’t think this was worth that level of hype but definitely good stuff
  • RR10 is one of my evening go to's IF I don't wanna get into something nicer.
  • This one is from the LL/ME laser-code batch, which some say stands out. I had the chance to try it side-by-side with a standard Russell’s 10, and it was noticeably better.
  • But overall, I prefer regular RR10 and even WT101.
  • Russell's Reserve 10 year or Single Barrel. Everytime I sip it I think to myself "If someone asked me for a Bourbon, this is bourbon what I would pour for them."

Cons

  • I’d take shelf 101 over it every time
  • Parent context: Same.. my LL/ME was only a hair different from my other RR10 and by itself against other bourbons it’s just average. Reply: Same.. my LL/ME was only a hair different from my other RR10 and by itself against other bourbons...
  • Meh. I hated it just as much as the regular RR lol

I would say Russell's 10 and Weller 12. Both are 90 proof which is more approachable than some higher proof bourbons if you're used to the generally lower scotch ABV. Both of these bottles give off "classic bourbon" notes while being balanced by some well aged oak notes.

If you like WT then you’ll probably like Russell’s Reserve. The 10 year is becoming easier to find and it’s a solid choice.
