Pros
- If you want something nice and cheap, go to Rudy’s. For $5 (cash only) you can get a beer, a shot of whiskey and a hot dog, and it’s the only place I’ve been in NYC where a beer isn’t above $8
- Rudy’s is the best chain bbq you can get. Sure, the non-chain restaurants will likely be better than Rudy’s, but you shouldn’t compare non-chain restaurants to it.
- 8.99 for a solid double meat brisket sandwich that comes in at about a pound… is it the best bbq? No. Can I make better? Yes. Do I eat it 10x more than I cook a brisket? Yes. Unbeatable for the price. Typically where we always go when we...
- I love the place.
- Rudy's is fine. Nobody in Austin goes to the big name places to pick up dinner on a random Wednesday night. Everyone has an 'every day' joint and for many it is Rudy's.
Cons
- Rudy’s is… fine. It’s never mind blowing, but it’s always pretty decent (and available for dinner!). They’ve got a good formula and it’s solid.

Unbeatable for the price. Typically where we always go when we have a big group. Feeds everyone at an extremely reasonable price. Love Rudy’s

Rudy’s is better than it has any right to be being a chain barbecue place with a drive thru. Those big baked potatoes with brisket are so damn good, I think I’ve only ever had one bad experience from there and it was a catering order with dry brisket.
I dont get the Rudy's hate, I think that place kicks ass.
It’s the only place to get solid bbq quickly from a chain. And that is pretty impressive.
Rudy's gets hate but I think it rocks. Sure it doesn't compare with the top craft spots, but you can order point cut/extra moist brisket for way less than those places charge and you're eating within 5 minutes of getting there.
