Death of a website imo. The moment the website gives no valueable data that individuals can judge for themselves other than personal opinions I think the website is pretty much useless.
Aaaaand they just signed their own death sentence. Subscriptions work when there is a stream of engaging content (that you enjoy) to come back to. Product review sites are used by people about to make a purchase and want to inform themselves. Once that purchase is done, they're not going to return to the site for a long while if at all. Who would pay a recurring monthly fee... to look at reviews for products? That's not how people use sites like Rtings and I'm surprised their own data didn't already make that clear to them.
When I need a review for any sort of tech, I always check rtings first. Its hands down the most in-depth no nonsense review site that I know of.
Their testing is great so if you use it just for measurements it's good. Scoring on the other hand is subjective so that's when ymmv.

The Verge and now Rtings. It was bad enough when Rtings gave people only so many views. Now it’s all paywalled? No thanks.
Look at other reviews and review sites. Rtings has been wonky with their reviews after a big change in staff. They aren’t releasing every graph and trying to streamline their reviews instead of offer in-depth coverage.
on every TV I've tried them, their recommendations seem to mute the color palette, reduce the brightness too low, and max out the warmth.
