Pop!_OS is a popular Ubuntu-based Linux distribution frequently recommended for its out-of-the-box hardware compatibility, particularly for NVIDIA GPU users. It is widely regarded as a strong choice for gaming and laptop use, though recent feedback is mixed regarding stability as the platform transitions to its new Cosmic desktop environment.
Pros
- Dedicated ISO with pre-installed NVIDIA drivers simplifies setup for many users.
- Strong reputation as a gaming-friendly distribution with performance tuning.
- Better-than-average laptop support, specifically regarding sleep and power management.
- Approachable and simplistic design suitable for newcomers to Linux.
Cons
- Incompatibility with certain games utilizing Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC).
- Recent reports of bugs and occasional sluggishness during the transition to the Cosmic desktop.
- Poor performance on older hardware with limited memory (e.g., 4GB RAM).
- Some users find the interface to be too heavily themed compared to stock environments.
Caveats
- The new Cosmic desktop environment is currently in a state where users may encounter 'kinks' or minor bugs.
- While generally stable, some community members suggest waiting for the next major release before performing a fresh installation.
Best for
- NVIDIA GPU owners who want a hassle-free driver experience.
- Linux newcomers looking for a gaming-ready OS.
- Laptop users who have had issues with sleep or battery life on other distributions.
Avoid if
- Your primary games require Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) support.
- You are using a machine with 4GB of RAM or less.
- You prefer a highly minimal or un-themed 'vanilla' Linux experience.

Keep in mind Pop uses cosmic that is not 100% ironed out and can be a bit wonky from time to time, but it’s a fantastic DE when it works!
I love pop and I always have it installed on a drive but I’d never use a beta product for my daily drive that school etc relies on.
I didn't have any of the problems with outdated tools I had on Pop.
Tired Linux different distro which support NVIDIA natively with iso (pop os , bazzite , end EndeavourOS) seriously its work good and smooth generally but when its comes to games that using Easy Anti cheat its not supported them + Its bugs and slow sometime
Pop is also good for nvidia support.
Yesterday I tried Pop!OS. That's fun too.
if you want something unique try Pop_OS with COSMIC.
I can recommend Pop_OS! as a good distribution for gaming. Plus it costs a total of 0£.
Pop OS is great, but until they release full new version there's no reason to install it.
Ubuntu spin-offs are also pretty good, like Mint or Pop OS
