Reddit take

AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

The RSL Speedwoofer 10E is widely considered the premier entry-level subwoofer by the home theater community, frequently cited as the best value available under $500. It is praised for delivering high output and extension that rivals or exceeds more expensive competitors, making it a staple recommendation for budget-conscious enthusiasts and those looking to implement dual-subwoofer configurations.

Pros

  • Exceptional price-to-performance ratio, often called the best 'bang for your buck' in its category.
  • Higher output in the 20-40Hz range compared to some more expensive sealed competitors like the SVS SB-1000.
  • Compact enough for small spaces and townhomes while still providing significant room-filling bass.
  • Highly recommended for dual-subwoofer setups to achieve better in-room performance for the price of a single high-end sub.

Cons

  • Availability can be inconsistent, with users frequently advising others to wait for restocks.
  • Recent price increases due to tariffs have slightly raised the entry cost from its initial launch price.

Caveats

  • Performance is highly dependent on room size; larger rooms may require multiple units or the larger 10S/12S models.
  • While it has excellent extension for its size, it may not provide the same sub-20Hz 'usable' output as significantly larger, more expensive ported subs.

Best for

  • Entry-level home theater setups.
  • Small to medium-sized listening rooms.
  • Users looking to run dual subwoofers on a budget under $700.

Avoid if

  • You have a very large, open-concept living space that requires massive air displacement.
  • You require guaranteed deep extension below 20Hz at high output levels.

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older (median age ~381 days), so confidence is adjusted for this fast-changing hardware category.

This is the cheapest all-new set-up at MSRP I can think of that would match and likely beat the Q990H.

the improvement in sound was substantial enough by adding the second sub, that I just decided to keep them like this instead of having them either on opposite sides or the front / end of the room. I’m sure that placing them in the more ideal positions would improve the sound even more, I’m currently happy with the response I’m getting with them like this.

I did a lot of research on cost/performance and found that Klipsch RP series and the RSL 10e provide a lot of bang for your money.
