Reddit take

Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • La serie de Ring (Susuki Koji): Ring, Spiral, Loop, Birthday.
  • Google Nest and Ring both have options for how you get alerts and even to set quiet hours.
  • It's a really cool and funny ring though.
  • Ring has this, as do many other security focused ecosystems.
  • This is any video doorbell. Nest, ring etc. Don't hook it up to the bell side. Or turn off the bell off if you hook it up.

Cons

  • For example Ring is NOTORIOUS for failing to trigger. People will attribute that to some grandiose technological conspiracy before they will consider that the technology just failed.
  • Ring has one for $5 a month and one for $10 a month
  • Ring is another bad one about all of this. Hence why we got rid of their security items (flood cam and doorbell)
  • Exterior cameras (we’ve had a ring but find it laggy)
  • stop using Ring or anything that requires monthly fees and depends on the internet to work.

Maybe Ring or Reolink, just don't plug the chime in or drop the volume low and maybe change the chime on your phone that is something comfortable for your dog.
