Pros

  • I’d def look into some anxiety meds from a vet, like Prozac. it takes a while but small changes are huge wins!
  • My pup is on Prozac and gabapentin.
  • I didn’t have the same experience but I spoke up immediately about my anxious feelings at my 6 week pp follow up & have been on low dose Prozac since. I’m even keeled, happy and present for my family thanks to it.
  • i also have a very anxious border collie (especially when it comes to sounds). she's on 20mg prozac/day. she's about 35-40lbs, and it has made a world of a difference. it's almost like she can process the world in a more thoughtful way w...
  • After 3 months of that we got her on prozac and had her on it for about 6 months, then tapered her off it and she's been doing great. Really brought out her personality since she wasn't anxious all the time.

Cons

  • I am on Prozac now.
  • So I am considering trialling a medication for myself. Maybe PPD/ anxiety. Something like Prozac or Wellbutrin to chill me out a little more?
  • I actually discovered last night that my mom was on Prozac during her pregnancy with me!
  • Zoloft didn’t work great for me and Prozac didn’t work for my mom, lexapro worked for us both.

Parent context: Could you tell what changes you noticed and what dose Reply: She is 25lbs and on 20mg a day. She started on 10mg and we only saw a slight improvement so the vet upped her dose. She is less afraid and more interested in other dogs now…she even has a best friend! She is more interested and happy about walks. (I used to have to drag her.) Also some of her noise aversion has diminished.

My dog is doing wonderful on prozac as my vet recommended. Low cost thru costco or chewy!

Our rescue is 75lbs and on 20mg of Prozac. We tried everything too. Unfortunately medication was the only solution

My dog is on Prozac and it made such a big difference and I wish I had started earlier. It’s also super cheap so definitely worth a try.
