PanOxyl
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
PanOxyl is a highly regarded benzoyl peroxide-based cleanser frequently recommended for treating acne on both the face and body. While it is praised for its effectiveness against breakouts and its affordability, users consistently report that it can be significantly drying and has a tendency to bleach fabrics like towels and bedding.
Pros
- Effective for body acne, including back, chest, and shoulder breakouts
- Affordable price point compared to many prescription or high-end alternatives
- Helps dry out existing acne and whiteheads quickly
- Versatile enough for niche uses like reducing underarm yellowing or treating Keratosis Pilaris (KP)
Cons
- Known to bleach colored clothes, towels, and bedding even after being rinsed off
- Can be extremely drying and irritating, particularly the 10% concentration
- May cause a 'purging' period that some users find difficult to manage
- Does not work for all users; some report no improvement after several months of use
Caveats
- For best results, many users recommend leaving the wash on the skin for 2 to 3 minutes before rinsing
- Starting with the 4% formula is often advised over the 10% formula to minimize initial irritation
- Should be used sparingly (2-3 times a week) at first to gauge skin tolerance
Best for
- Body acne (bacne)
- Oily or acne-prone skin
- Budget-conscious skincare routines
- Hormonal breakouts
Avoid if
- You have very dry or sensitive skin
- You are unwilling to risk bleaching your towels or pillowcases
- You have a known sensitivity to benzoyl peroxide

Try panoxyl as a face wash once a day (read instruction on how to use it) and you should notice those white heads disappearing.
One word! Panoxyl! It's a body wash with benzoyl peroxide! When you use it though, leave it on your skin for 3 minutes before you wash it off, the longer the better. I used to have horrible bacne, that was a God send when I was still in college and needed something affordable that worked!
Cheapest when you can find such as peach slices or panoxyl. Peach slices has a little better formula and they are pretty much on par when it comes to pricing.
There’s still things you can do to help, spearmint tea, using panoxyl more before and during your period.
So I’d recommend a benzoil peroxide face wash like Panoxyl 4%. Definitely start with using it only 1x a day, as it can be very drying and irritating. Use it only at nights and avoid your eye and mouth arrea as best as you can.
I use PanOxyl on my underarms to get rid of yellowing.
washing with benzoyl peroxide (i use panoxyl) helps a lot!

I use PanOxyl cleanser and it helps me best
AM: 1. Cleanse - use the Panoxyl in the morning instead (this has benzoyl peroxide (BP), correct?). It's adviseable to use a 4% to 6% BP cleanser, not a 10% one.
