Pros

  • Otocinclus.
  • If you're willing to wait a while before getting your fish, a 10g hexagon would be a fine otocinclus tank. They don't need much in the way of footprint or swimming space, since they prefer to cling to plants.
  • Snails are a great choice and depending on your tank size otocinclus or Siamese algae eaters work very well as well
  • Cleaning crew otocinclus would fit really well just make sure to get at least 5.
  • if you want it gone now, and if your tank is cycled, then you can add algae eaters like otocinclus and Amano shrimp. They'll finish it in a second!

Cons

  • Parent context: Otocinclus. Reply: Oh yeah, I have one of those too. I actually forgot he was in there for about 5 years because he never came out of the giant conch shell I had in there. Now he hides under a rock with the clown plecos,...
  • Otocinclus is a good suckercatfish for smaller environments. But they are difficult and hate new tanks. It´s better, to put them in after a year, when the environment is stable and there´s enough biofilm, to feed on.
  • Mine is Otocinclus. After my 3rd purchase, I gave up. It sucks to be removing dead otos from any one of my tanks. :(
  • I did get some Otocinclus a while back but unfortunately they didn't make it and given how expensive they were I am hesitant to try again.
  • You can club in a group of otocinclus as well , but that would border on overstocking since you ideally need about 4 of them to feel secure . It’s not a no-go , but one that some purists would scorn at .
