I recently upgraded to an Optoma HD146X for bedroom projector gaming. Image quality is great, but I’m realizing how limited it is as a non-smart projector (no apps, no mirroring, etc.).
I’m pretty happy with this projector. I got it on a good price and looking to use it mainly outdoor at night time for movies, football games and occasional games.
my vote would go to the Optoma HD146X after a little research i got one start of the year with similar expectations of it being a fad of mine that id drop once done. Ended up spending 3x price on 3D Blurays as it completely blew me away how good it looks and am rewatching loads of stuff i already have on 2D BR and even prefer it to UHD for the immersion factor
I would consider the BenQ TH575 or the Optoma HD146x or similar new models. The projectors with the .65" DLP chip are favored over smaller DLP chips

3500 is an awesome projector. Bought a used one not too long ago and it outshined my newer Epson HD146X by a long shot.
The lamp-based BenQ TH575 or the Optoma HD146x are excellent value options for proper entry level installations. You don't get more brightness, for less money, that I've seen. They are well reviewed as well.
There are a couple of lamp-based models which are brighter and potentially better overall for home theater with the BenQ TH575 and the Optoma HD146x. Many people use them for their home theater setups.
Second the HD146X my personal entry into projectors amazing value for money
Closer to $500 or so, the BenQ TH575 or the Optoma HD146x are both decent lamp-based 1080p projectors. They are plenty bright for a 120" image in a room with some ambient light.
