Pros
- If you plan to rent a car, than it's totally doable and you can even see much more than just Ohrid. Tirana is lovely, 3 days is more than sufficient, but in Albania there are also so many beautiful cities that are worth considering.
- I actually like Skopje, but Ohrid tends to be the must see in North Macedonia.
- We were very lucky to have excellent weather; the lake was so magical under the sun. Honestly, it felt like a dream.
- I recently went to Ohrid for a weekend trip, and I didn't expect it to be SUPER nice!!
- Honestly, this is the highlight of the whole trip. But don’t just “do Ohrid” — use it as a base: Monastery of Saint Naum (right on the lake, really special place) Trpejca (tiny village on the lake, absolutely beautiful) Swim / chill arou...
Cons
- The disadvantages were: parking can be an issue, the roads are not in the best condition, there was a lot of construction in February preparing for the summer season, and the food was a bit bland (thankfully, they have burek everywhere).

But don’t just “do Ohrid” — use it as a base: Monastery of Saint Naum (right on the lake, really special place) Trpejca (tiny village on the lake, absolutely beautiful) Swim / chill around the lake Ohrid itself is brilliant as well — old churches, proper historic feel, and the setting is unreal.
I loved lake Ohrid.
Ohrid has Galicica National Park literally at walking distance to cater your (easy) walks in nature. A great place to go is the highest point of the road through Galicica NP between Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa, which gives you excellent views of Lake Ohrid with clear weather.
if you have some spare days you should definitely include Ohrid and continue to Greece from there through the Medzitlija/Niki border crossing.
