Pros
- He's gone out and bought Ahoy, Fort, Oath, and Arcs. When he talks about these games, his whole face lights up and he can go on about them for ages.
- Oath is in my top 10 of all time, but it’s a horrible recommendation for 95% of people. ... Again, not a knock at the game! I love it!
- The name is strong, the gameplay is strategic, the player count is flexible (between 3 and 6) by design, and it has a cult following. People who love Oath tend to have it as their absolute favorite game of all time.
- My favorites in terms of art and graphic design are Oath, John Company, Parks 2nd Edition, Quacks, Lord of the Rings Duel, Moonrakers, Magical Athlete, Nine Tiles Panic, and The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31.
- I've seen Cole Wehrle lists that put Root or Arcs or PP2E or JoCo or Oath as their favorite.
Cons
- I remember the last time, it was Oath lol.
- Leder's priority now looks to be finishing up the Root and Oath expansions.
- Anything with politics or negotiation is just not as fun online IMO. John Company, Sidereal Confluence, Oath, Dune etc. Half the fun is talking shit with your friends.
- Oath is generally well regarded, but be warned it is an extremely difficult game to parse: the rules are moderately complex and don't look anything like games you might already be familiar with. It's also hard to work out how to get thin...
- I am still given shit a year plus later for trying to teach Oath with the learn as you play module. I did read the entire rulebook and watched a how to play, but it still just didn't work.

I gathered a 5 player game of people who were serious about games, yet handled things like king-making, shifting alliances, and betrayals well in games like Oath and Root.
When you play games like Root, Oath, Arcs, John Company, or Pax Pamir, you notice that playing these games 2 or 3 times is not even enough for you to understand how much ground they cover.
