I have a Nikon Zfc, which is a small APS-C photo camera with no IBIS, no internal RAW, no pro codecs, etc. So unfortunately I can’t get the same advantages you’re mentioning just by adding lenses. For what I shoot (restaurants, travel, small doc-style videos), the Zfc is great for learning, but I’m looking for something more stable, better in low light and more video-oriented

If you are thinking about a retro looking camera, I would recommend you to check out the Nikon ZFC. Should be under budget, is quite modern, looks retro enough, and the z mount gives a lot of good lens choices for future upgrades, but the included kit lens should be able to get you going just fine.
My goto compact but fun camera is probably my zfc with a 24/1.7 or 23/1.2.
Avoid Zfc compared to Z50ii.
I mentioned 4 bodies from which D500 and ZFC fit that price bracket.
the ZFC looks so cool but I only got to check out the X-m5 when I went to B&H
