MiXplorer
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
MiXplorer is widely regarded by Reddit users as one of the most powerful and feature-rich file managers for Android. It is praised for its extreme versatility, including advanced tools like a code editor and mass renaming, though some users find the interface or font size challenging. While a paid version exists on official app stores to support the developer, a free version with the same features is maintained on XDA.
Pros
- Highly customizable and feature-rich, including a code editor, SQLite database editor, and HTML viewer.
- Advanced mass renaming system that supports variables, patterns, and regular expressions.
- Offers a '360-degree view' of system files when paired with Shizuku.
- Supports thumbnails for HEIC and HEIF image files.
- The free version available on XDA is functionally identical to the paid 'Silver' version.
Cons
- Interface issues reported regarding small font sizes and themes that can be hard on the eyes.
- Reported loss of native Google Drive support due to developer financial constraints.
Caveats
- The paid version on the Play Store is intended as a donation to support the developer rather than a feature upgrade.
- Full system file access requires additional setup with Shizuku.
Best for
- Power users needing advanced file management tools like regex renaming or database editing.
- Users seeking a more capable alternative to 'Files by Google' or stock file managers.
Avoid if
- You have visual sensitivities or find small UI fonts difficult to read.
- You require a file manager with seamless, built-in Google Drive integration.
This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older (median age ~415 days), so confidence is lower regarding current cloud support status or recent UI updates.

Yes, MiXplorer is currently the best file manager. But everyone already knows about it, and most users have likely already acquired it. ... By the way, I don't like that I can't pin two tabs at once when launching MiXplorer; I often need both the phone storage and SD card tabs right at startup.
MiXplorer is the best app in the store. In addition to managing files and accessing cloud storage, it also has a serviceable book reader and music player. Worth buying.
file manager-> MiXplorer
I use Musicolet and MiXplorer too. They're both so great
MixPlorer - file manager app free and open source and isnt slow and laggy when doing big moves or transfers
For more robust editing needs, I use the built-in text editor in the MiXplorer file manager.
MiXPlorer is another good one (More outdated UI out of the box, but has way more functions & plugins, and offers deeper customization, deeper learning curve).
