Pros
- the barrel strength rye and toasted whiskeys drop more consistently than before. In short: it’s a good time to be both Michter’s and a Michter’s fan.
- That was the bottle that got me into enjoying ryes early on. Quite impressed with their proof to flavor ratio.
- It’s not hard to see why this rye is loved by almost everyone. It might not have the most powerful presentation, but it’s complex, nuanced and flavorful in an elegant way. While I wouldn’t describe this as a flavor bomb, it showcases bot...
Cons
- Went toe to toe with michters barrel strength rye and significantly cheaper
- Grade: 7.5/10 Comments: ...while this is still a good pour, compared to the Michter’s 10 year rye, this one tastes much more young and brash. I’ve seen this offered around me for $150 and I think that’s absolutely absurd, in fact, even a...
- The Michter’s continues to disappoint and received a significantly worse score than when I reviewed it previously. Honestly considered giving it a 4 here. That weird rye funk is pretty off-putting honestly and there’s not much else going...
- The only downside is that the mouthfeel is more or less medium, but again, it doesn’t lack any flavor or definition.
- I posted a review a while back as well, also found it fairly meh. Still gave it a 7, barely, but it should be higher given the price and Michter's reputation.

I’ve seen this offered around me for $150 and I think that’s absolutely absurd, in fact, even at MSRP I would hesitate to buy this as there are many other excellent ryes that are cheaper.

It’s not hard to see why this rye is loved by almost everyone. It might not have the most powerful presentation, but it’s complex, nuanced and flavorful in an elegant way. While I wouldn’t describe this as a flavor bomb, it showcases both the tried and true elements of rye whiskies (bready rye spice, cherry, cinnamon, very slight herbalness) and those Michter’s specific flavors (dark molasses, pumpernickel, etc) that will make you come back after every sip.

I found the 24 edition of this also lacking compared to previous years. A shame, because when these are good they are incredible.
I’m also pretty underwhelmed by this bottle
