Mammoth (soap base)

Pros
- I’ve tried 7-8 different soap bases in the last 2 weeks, amazing soaps like Mammoth and MdC, but nothing comes close to the comfort that Omnibus provides.
- We don't do backcountry (yet) but love to do challenging off-piste runs at places like Snowbird, Whistler, Jay, Mad River, Mammoth.
- Copper, Abay, Alta/Snowbird and Mammoth would be the best chance for decent snow.
- Copper, ABasin, Mammoth and AltaBird are all solid choices for mid to late April.
- Best is probably Mammoth (no direct experience just lots of hype)
Cons
- Favorite: Mammoth mid-week Least: Mammoth on any weekend
- Mammoth will still be good, but it might cause you actual pain to see how much better it can be but not experience it.
- We have a place in Mammoth and just cancelled a family trip up there. Less than two feet of base and next week will have highs in the 50's. Not worth it.
- Mammoth is 5 hours for me and I don’t even wanna drive
- So nice. But maybe in a couple more hours it is slush city. Mammoth usually works that way.

mammoth and palisades are great in spring
I really like Mammoth because: 1) Great combination of groomers I can lap for carving, plus extensive off-piste steeps. 2) During extended stays I only ski M-F, and on those days it’s relatively uncrowded and relaxing. 3) Ample snowfall (usually!). 4) Town is relaxing (not a zoo).
