46 CS has chocolate notes whereas 46 is heavy vanilla.
Seem to recall thinking 46 was pretty good.
For pimped up Old Fashioned, I go with Four Roses Single Barrel, Michter's (US1 or Rye), 1792 single barrel, Maker's 46, or Old Forester 1920. I find the cocktail to be much better.
