The M21B LHP73B is a high-performance flashlight recognized for its exceptional efficiency and high lumen output at a significantly lower price point than competitors like the XHP70.3. It offers a balanced beam that provides a large hotspot and useful spill, making it a versatile "monster" flooder with decent throw. While it is a low-CRI light, users frequently praise its crisp 5000K tint and its ability to light up large outdoor areas effectively.
Pros
- High efficiency and lower forward voltage compared to the XHP70.3
- Excellent value, with the emitter costing significantly less than similar high-output options
- Balanced beam pattern that works well for both flooding and distance
- Crisp 5000K tint that users describe as clean and neutral
- Powerful turbo mode, especially effective with 20A drive levels
Cons
- Polarizing user interface (UI) that some users find frustrating or non-intuitive
- Heats up very quickly on high power settings
- Low Color Rendering Index (CRI), which may not suit users who prioritize color accuracy
Caveats
- The UI is programmable with 12 groups, which may require setup to meet individual preferences
- The light's high output leads to rapid thermal accumulation, limiting sustained turbo use
Best for
- Outdoor night walking
- General use requiring a balance of flood and throw
- Budget-conscious enthusiasts looking for maximum lumens per dollar
Avoid if
- You require high CRI for accurate color representation
- You prefer a simple, non-programmable user interface
- You need a light that can sustain maximum output for long periods without overheating
This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older (median age ~390 days), so confidence is medium for this fast-changing hardware category.

What redditors said (10 of 20)
The LHP73B is nicer to use for walking, better spill and bigger hotspot.
The double click turbo 20A is definitely more effective on the LHP73B.
lhp73b is insanely floody, more so than the xhp70.3 which is also flood afk
Also you could make the case for the LHP73B, if you are looking a lumens monster with a more balance beam.
and the LHP73B in 5000K because it's a bit of a monster and, while not very high-CRI, has a nice neutral tint (imo) and will absolutely light up the outdoors.
The tint on the lhp73b is definitely very nice
Testing by koef3 suggests that the LHP73B has marginally higher efficacy (and likely efficiency) at all drive levels
I’ve found the M21b lhp73b is a great all around light 1% mode is about 70-80 lumens 10% is about 700-800 lumens which is great for most general use. It’s got a good size not too big not too small 21700 give us tons of better y life.
For something with low CRI but good tint, the M21B LHP73B is a super efficient flooder that also has decent throw and an option for extremely bright turbo.
UI sucks balls period. I don't really need moonlight mode, but you never know! I gotta have battery check but don't like how I lose track of which mode I'm in when I need to turn it on.
