IMO the most you want without going for a rig is something very cheap like a G29 or T300.
All I have is a T300 and GT7 on a PS4 but god damn is it fun.
I used a t300 for one and a half years before getting a better wheel and i have to say the t300 for 150$ is totally fine for a person who wants to try simracing.
I had the same thing as my entry into sim racing. Loved it!
