AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

Lectrosonics is widely regarded as a "bulletproof" industry standard in the location sound community, prized for its extreme durability and long-term reliability. While the brand carries a premium price tag, it is frequently recommended for its excellent customer service and the longevity of its gear, which often remains functional and compatible across generations, making it a staple in professional kits.

Pros

  • Renowned for exceptional durability and "bulletproof" build quality.
  • Strong backward compatibility between older and newer generations of gear.
  • Excellent customer service and manufacturer support.
  • High resale value and a robust market for reliable used equipment.
  • Low latency performance, with some modes reaching as low as 1.6ms.

Cons

  • High entry cost compared to prosumer brands.
  • High power consumption; some transmitters are noted for quickly draining batteries.
  • Occasional RF artifacts or a specific "flavor" of static in weak signal conditions.

Caveats

  • Simultaneous internal recording and transmission (TX+Rec) is restricted in the US market.
  • Some users have reported reliability inconsistencies with newer models like the DSR4.
  • Achieving optimal signal levels may occasionally require specific hardware padding (resistors) despite digital gain settings.

Best for

  • Professional location sound recordists and mixers.
  • Users requiring gear that can withstand years of heavy field use.
  • Sound professionals looking to build a high-end kit through the used market.

Avoid if

  • You are a hobbyist or on a tight budget where brands like Deity or Sennheiser are more practical.
  • You require simultaneous internal recording and wireless transmission within the United States.

Lectro is now the worst sounding wireless. Wisycom wins on range Shure and SD are hands down the highest audio quality. Lectro has a just bit great anymore.

I think the basic fact that lectro and sound devices have been used so heavily and for decades they have been put through the wringer and that is a piece of mind in production that I just want.

I've been a lectrosonics die hard since the 2010's or so. We all know the inevitable squeeze was/is coming, but I can't seem to find anything in their current offerings that makes me think they have done any future proofing.

One of the things that's really great about Lectrosonics for example is the lengths they've gone to to keep backwards compatibility with newer products.

Long ago, Lectrosonics put out a statement that it won't harm their transmitters. This is a question because if it doesn't emit energy, it could reflect that back into the transmitter.
