La Roche-Posay Moisturizer
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
La Roche-Posay moisturizers are widely regarded as reliable staples for basic skincare routines, particularly for those using active treatments like tretinoin. While generally praised for barrier protection and simplicity, some users find certain formulations insufficient for very dry skin or irritating due to specific ingredients like niacinamide.
Pros
- Effective for 'buffering' active treatments like tretinoin to minimize irritation
- Reliable component of a simple, 'solid' base routine
- Helps protect and repair the skin barrier
- Reported to improve skin texture and reduce redness when used consistently
Cons
- May cause irritation for those sensitive to niacinamide
- Some formulations might not provide enough hydration for very dry skin, leading to peeling
- Potential to cause breakouts or skin issues for specific users
Caveats
- Users frequently refer to 'the regular one' or 'the one in the blue pump,' making it difficult to distinguish between specific product lines like Toleriane or Lipikar
- Several popular versions contain niacinamide and ceramides, which may not suit all skin types
Best for
- Users looking to buffer strong actives like tretinoin or retinoids
- Simple AM skincare routines
- Individuals focusing on skin barrier health
Avoid if
- You have a known sensitivity to niacinamide
- You have extremely dry skin that requires a very heavy or rich emollient

I currently use Cera Ve as my daily cleanser (the Hydrating Facial Cleanser one) and I also have a moisturizer from La Roche Posay that I used to use off and on, but have stopped because I was kinda suspecting it to be the cause of my more recent skin issues (I’ve used cera ve as my cleanser for years & the moisturizer is the only new thing that I was trying).
if you liked LRP i would try their moisturizer and sunscreen :)
so your base routine is actually solid, LRP cleanser and moisturizer are great.
La Roche Posay Moisturizer (the usual/regular one)
Buffer it — apply your LRP moisturizer first, wait 10 min, then tret on top. This reduces irritation without killing effectiveness.
that moisturizer may have niacinamide if it’s the one i’m thinking of and that can be irritating
A lot of people like the LRP one for AM and Illiyoon for night time
Double cleanse with La Roche posay foaming cleanser, use only clean skin club towels on face as others hold bacteria, tone, moisturize w La Roche posay moisturizer!
Corsx good morning cleanser and la roche posay moisturizer
I’ve been using the one of the La Roche Posay moisturizers, but I recently ran out. I guess it would help if I remembered what it was called but it was a white cylindrical bottle with a dark blue pump. It was decent, but occasionally my face would peel a little bit even after applying it, which I assume means that it wasn’t moisturizing enough for my face.
