Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • I use organic maps and Komoot as a backup, both worked well.
  • I use the Komoot app in Europe for hiking trails.
  • Alternate that with a long steep climb route off of Komoot, ride with gps, or wikiloc that is in your area; every other week…
  • Strava and Komoot are two very easy to use websites for cycling routes. Perhaps Komoot may be better suited for what you want, but it depends on the part of the world, I suppose.
  • I usually use komoot or hiking project. Neither is perfect but are better than all trails.

Cons

  • Parent context: Komoot Reply: Looks good! Pricey though...
  • Great for hiking & cycling, not great for running: * confusing to build routes on the fly. auto-snap isn’t as good * running route options are limited * more useful on trails than city running * map is good, but the workflow is not
  • Meanwhile me when hiking: Spends way more time than necessary looking at Komoot on my phone.
  • Komoot has a weather option at least in the subscription mode. Although the forecast service they use is not great, so I'd check out OPs app once its world wide
  • The same navigation cues happens when I make routes in RideWithGPS or Komoot.

I was thinking about hiking Jotunheimen in February (https://www.komoot.com/collection/108/a-5-day-hike-around-norway-s-jotunheimen)
