Kobo Clara HD

Pros

• Yeah, if you don't care about size or buttons, then the Clara HD is still fine
• The kobo is actually better than I remembered. I guess when I first got it I was trying to do to much with it, reading wikipedia and pdfs etc. It's not great at that. But it's great at the basic job of reading a book from front to back,...
• All my ereaders were bought secondhand in my country: - Kindle Basic 10th gen ($70) - Tolino Vision 5 ($70) - Kobo Clara HD ($30)
• I have a Kobo Clara HD that my sister gave me because she switched the Kindle in 2021, which I also use a lot!
• I had a Kobo Clara HD before that and loved them both.

Cons

• But with my current Kobo Clara HD (which I love for everything else) even just 1% is really bright, and I don't get why.
• the kobo has the issue that it tries to force you to make an account to use it, but I found the workaround online where you plug it into your computer and edit the sqlite file to get around that
• It's slow, but nothing I consider crazy coming from a 2017 Kobo Clara HD.
• while I have a Clara HD, I keep an old Kindle 7th gen Paperwhite for books I can't get on Kobo
• I have 3 ereaders; Kindle Basic 10th Gen, Tolino Vision 5 and Kobo Clara HD and I bought all of them in used market for a total of ~$170
