KNX

Pros

• There is nothing more stable and user friendly than KNX (the “users” being the non-techy people in the household; not the nerds who love to waste a weekend with some Home Assistant yaml code). If cost isn’t an issue, KNX all the way.
• If you have the option for wires, go wired KNX. Always beats wireless shelly
• I would strongly recommend KNX. Also, the cost for it is mainly high if you purchase a total solution from a vendor. If you look at individual devices, for example a 16 output switching actuator is 300, which makes the cost of the output...
• I'm an Electrician, so wiring a KNX style house is cost effective for me. I've been thinking of doing a KNX style home... I could upgrade to something like KNX down the track if a sponsor ever came along.
• I had KNX in my previous house... KNX never missed a command... In my next house, I’d go with KNX without hesitation.

Cons

• We also prefer "classic" switches over the buttons the KNX installation in our current appartment has.
• KNX/Insteon are dual-band RF+powerline. Power line signaling is not good enough to be a primary technology (refrigerators and such are essentially signal jammers) which is why it has failed repeatedly in the market.
• KNX - too expensive.
• Similar option is KNX. Not sure which would be more available in Mexico.
• KNX is expensive, other systems like Loxone, Control4 etc. are vendor-locked. All require professional install.
