If you're looking for the best possible quality you can look at the Kaleidescape systems that are as good and often better quality than 4K Blu-ray, but they're very expensive. I've probably spent over the last 7 years a combined total of about $7000 USD on my media server and over 500 4K Blu-rays. If I'd spent that same amount on a Kaleidescape system and their movies, I wouldn't be able to afford their storage at all

for people just getting started, who want physical media quality with streaming convenience, you’d have to at least give some thought to this. with the new entry level kscape unit pricing the premium over roll your own NAS with 2026 storage prices isn’t nearly as significant as it once was
