Pros
- I run the lowest level VPS on Hetzner and use Tailscale as an exit node on that server to act as my VPN. The whole thing takes minutes to set up and if you only use it occasionally you can spin it up and delete it again as and when neede...
- Can vouch for Hetzner, I originally used just for my webapp but I discovered I can do so much more than just that.
- Hetzner for VPS / dedicated servers at a cheap price.
- set up your own VLESS + Reality server on a cheap VPS (e.g., Hetzner or DigitalOcean).
- But i will recommend to get a VPS from any provider (hetzner , oneprovider , contabo etc ) , it gives you flexibility
Cons
- I always thought if you host it on your own (have seen people do it through hetzner) you also have to do things security wise.
- What if they go down? (Hetzner actually had a minor issue today, ironically.)
- I have setup hetzner for my production workload but the problem is while setting up load balancer on top of manual built k8s . The main reason to have load balancer was for auto scaling of worker nodes/pods but the load balancer didn’t w...
- Hetzner is nice, but orders of magnitude smaller than the big hyperscalers. Their offering is limited - great If it works for you, If you need extra bells and whistles, they probably wont be able to deliver.

Depending on the cost of electricity (cooling, heating, and power) and the cost of equipment it might be better to just run something on a Hetzner.
Setup your own VPN with AlgoVPN on AWS, DigitalOcean, or Hetzner (my preferred IaaS)
I have a VPS in Hetzner that I use for services I require outside the home in case the internet at home goes out.
Hetzner is solid, and if you like Nextcloud, then that's a good combo.
Hetzner, which has Storage Box and Storage Share(nextcloud powered), which is cheap and comes with 1TB
