Pros

• Buy a good quality comfortable helmet instead.
• We decided not to use the helmet because it wasn’t affecting his facial features and his head was still symmetrical. He is 13 months old now and you can’t tell there was ever a flat spot.
• We decided to go with the helmet to not have to worry “what if” because I knew I’d regret not doing it! We had it for 10 weeks and her head looks so much better now and she wasn’t really bothered by it! I’m really happy we did it!
• She has been in PT for months and just graduated from her helmet after 7 weeks. She now has a perfect little bowling ball head and all her facial asymmetry and bulging has been corrected. Our insurance covered it so the decision was easy...

Cons

• We waited a little too long and got the helmet at nine months. We kept it on for three months (after a year, their head growth slows down a lot so it’s not really worth keeping on much longer). His head improved a lot, but it’s not 100%...
• I honestly think it is a money making operation tbh.
• Part of me also feels like maybe it wasn't needed, but we already had it run through insurance and ordered it.
• Our ped and neuro both recommended against the helmet, they said the research doesn’t really support it.
• I felt that the helmet would interfere with natural development and it wasn’t severe enough to justify a big concern.
