Pros

  • Heavenly is the most convenient
  • Heavenly mostly for the ease of access from South Lake Tahoe, lots of cruiser runs, but some fun technical to be had as well. Nice trees on the Nevada side.
  • I wouldn't worry about possible rain at the base of Heavenly. Not that it doesn't happen (it'll happen this weekend all the way up to 9000ft), but at Heavenly you won't be hanging at the base. It's not a usual thing like, say, Mt Hood re...
  • Hit Heavenly and Northstar on weekdays, Kirkwood on weekend.
  • I know that Northstar and Heavenly are paradise for intermediates

Cons

  • Heavenly isn't the worst mountain I've been to --that's probably Snow Summit in Big Bear Lake --but I hate the resort more than any other. Combination of weird horizontal layout and really clueless tourist clientele (even compared to oth...
  • At least they are actually in line unlike the idiots at Heavenly on powder days who just put their skis there and go off do who-knows-what.
  • You will 100% regret heavenly - it’s THAT much worse than Mammoth. I’ve skied both, this is like comparing a high quality perfectly cooked steak to hamburger helper. It’s fine in a pinch but not for 5 weeks haha.
  • I got bored of heavenly in one day. I don’t remember the name exactly, kilibrew canyon maybe, was the only challenging part of mountain and it sucked to get to and most of it was traversing for 3 good chutes. Great view of Nevada from th...
  • Nah, Heavenly is not worth it for 5 weeks. You’ll get bored. It has one interesting lift on the California side and one interesting lift on the Nevada side. Both of them are super duper crowded all the time. The trails are off these lift...

I got bored of heavenly in one day. I don’t remember the name exactly, kilibrew canyon maybe, was the only challenging part of mountain and it sucked to get to and most of it was traversing for 3 good chutes. Great view of Nevada from there. They held snow well, but I think that was because the mountain is entirely full of Jerry’s.
