Harmonies
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
Harmonies is a highly-regarded abstract tile-placement and drafting board game where players build environments to attract animals. It is frequently described as a blend of Cascadia and Azul, offering a satisfyingly "brain-burny" puzzle that remains accessible and easy to teach. Users consistently praise its aesthetic appeal and clever mechanical depth.
Pros
- Beautiful artwork and high-quality components with a strong animal theme
- Excellent box inserts that are recyclable and support vertical storage without mixing components
- Easy to learn and teach while maintaining significant strategic depth
- Plays very well at a 2-player count
- Satisfying drafting and tile-placement mechanics
Cons
- Some players feel the game sessions end too quickly
Caveats
- Offers a tighter, more competitive puzzle than Cascadia, which some may find less relaxing
- While themed around animals, the core gameplay is an abstract puzzle
Best for
- Fans of Cascadia or Azul looking for a game with more depth
- Players who enjoy beautiful, nature-themed board games
- 2-player gaming sessions
- Families looking for an accessible but clever game
Avoid if
- You prefer 'looser' tactical puzzles where you don't have to think as far ahead
- You are looking for high direct player competition or interaction

Harmonies is not simplified Cascadia. Harmonies is like if Cascadia and Azul had a baby
It's good but I wish it has more interaction between the players. Most of the time we're just doing our own thing.
your cat has better taste than most people smh 🤣 Harmonies is a solid choice.
a really cozy game with beautiful art and surprisingly satisfying decisions. **8.5/10 from me, 10/10 from my cat.** 🐱
Harmonies is my wife's favourite game!
I adore Harmonies. Why? Because I can play it with people who do not enjoy mean games, yet it satisfies me with its gameplay, and I can play it to take a break from all the interaction.
In the last year, I bought/was gifted: Voidfall, Compile, Bomb Busters, Andromeda's Edge, Harmonies, Magical Athlete and Ark Nova.
Parent context: For me, it’s alright. I’ve played better puzzle games. Also, you don’t end up with a cute ecosystem like Cascadia, just random cubes and flat things in piles. Reply: Oh man, I am the exact opposite. I think the three dimensional element of Harmonies is much more visually interesting than Cascadia. I got Harmonies earlier this year, and I've gone back to Cascadia since, and it feels flat (literally and figuratively) in comparison.
It's my favorite game!
