Pros

  • For what it's worth, I've managed to stay underweight on a 7kg/15lbs limit with a 26L Goruck GR1 that weighed 7 lbs empty.
  • GoRuck GR1 at 26L
  • I carry essentially the same daily, and I use a 21L GR1. I have other packs and slings, but I end up always using this. It just works. Just enough organization, but still flexible enough to set up however you’d like. I use various pouche...
  • Looking for a backpack with similar function and durability to the GoRuck GR1

Cons

  • I took a 21L GR1 as my personal item.
  • I’ve used the GR1 on and off for about 9 years. I love the straps and the slim profile, but I find it lacking in organization for my current needs.
  • I used GR1 for a long time but CTB is much better for travel/edc.
  • Love the look and durability, and my packing cubes fit perfectly. Downsides: no bottle holder, a bit heavy, and could maybe run hot on the back.
  • Check out the GR1 (everyday size), the GR2 (a bit bigger, might be a large fit if you have a smaller build) and the GR3 (really more of a travel back pack than something you'd carry to class). The 26L GR1 is listed as sized for a 16" lap...

I carry essentially the same daily, and I use a 21L GR1. I have other packs and slings, but I end up always using this. It just works. Just enough organization, but still flexible enough to set up however you’d like. I use various pouches for more organization. I can insert a camera cube to carry photo gear. Comfortable shoulder straps and well balanced, regardless of how full it is. The material is almost indestructible and resists the elements. After over a year of daily use and travel, it looks practically new. Can’t recommned enough.
