Google Pixel 7 Pro
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Google Pixel 7 Pro is a polarizing flagship that excels in photography and software experience but is frequently criticized for its underlying hardware efficiency. While users praise the 'pure' Android UI and class-leading camera processing, recurring complaints center on the Tensor G2 chip's tendency to overheat and its unreliable cellular modem.
Pros
- Excellent camera processing and optical zoom capabilities
- Smooth and clean 'pure' Android software experience
- High-quality 120Hz display with high pixel density
- Strong value proposition at current mid-range price points
Cons
- Tensor G2 chip performs poorly in gaming and intensive tasks
- Frequent overheating, especially in warmer climates
- Unreliable cellular reception and modem connectivity issues
- Mediocre battery life that often fails to last a full day
Caveats
- The device is described as heavy and bulky, making it uncomfortable for some users to hold
- Connectivity issues like dropped SIM signals and poor reception appear to be hardware-related rather than software bugs
Best for
- Photography enthusiasts who prioritize still-image quality
- Users who want a premium Google software experience at a discounted price
Avoid if
- You are a heavy mobile gamer requiring sustained performance
- You live or work in an area with weak cellular coverage
- You prefer a lightweight or compact smartphone
