Pros
- t's goodwill or salvation army for me , got perfectly wearable Levi jeans and many hoodies and t shirts for about a ⅓ of big box store prices.
- Dishware and clothes can be gotten from goodwill for a couple dollars.
- I get not wanting to go to every thrift around you and waste a ton of time but find one decent sized goodwill and check from time to time. We frequently buy our work pants there.
- Honestly, all my suits have come from Goodwill in the US. I literally got like a $600 Italian suit for $20 there (and another $40 to have the pants taken in).
- Goodwill will also have a large selection of cutlery. Mismatched, but entirely useful.

Goodwill is not what it used to be. Their prices are high, and aside from shirts/pants/jackets a lot of their stuff is cheap dollar store stuff. I have found a wonderful thrift store near me that is much larger than goodwill with a much better selection and everything is secondhand. Pants there cost $3 vs Goodwill's $8+ and the clothes are in better condition.

I remember clearly after Covid there was an announcement saying due to increase cost and expenses they will have to raise their prices….. then I thought, wait isn’t it just free trash people drop off. I haven’t donated to goodwill since.
Was a stack, priced $10-40 ea... For stuff that is worth $5 on a good day.
Goodwill is especially notorious for this. ... fuck goodwill. If that’s the only store near you, find a homeless encampment and drop your clothes off there. Goodwill is pretty much a scalper at this point. They pay their employees pretty poorly, so their overhead is relatively nothing, meanwhile they get their stock for free and their prices are way too high.
