GoDaddy

Contacting GoDaddy support is comedy gold. Can't get past level 1. They won't escalate. They can't get it into their heads the scope of this thing.

Just avoid them for absolutely anything, the company, as you can see, is absolute trash and will do anything to get your money.

Prices are garbage. Customer service is garbage. They're always getting hacked and their domain privacy messes up and exposes owners. They "domain taste" so much with expired domains it's practically a scam. Worst off, if you type a domain into their registrar to see if it's available, their algorithm will note that the domain you types is more popular now and you might want it and then tomorrow might show you a higher price OR they might straight up buy it out from under you and ransom it back to you. Absolute bullshit company. Stay well away from them.

We can't just avoid GoDaddy, they own hundreds of registrars and it's not just them. It's a few major companies that got in early, and now exploit and control the whole industry.

GoDaddy is the worst, but they work within a framework that allows them to do it.

Instead of getting the domain when it expired, it went straight to godaddy or afternic (one of many of their companies). They wanted a few thousand for the domain, and even positioned it as if there was a seller.

they are also accused of selling domain search to snipers and basically trying to compete with GoDaddy for the worst off registrar / hosting company.

GoDaddy has been terrible for so long, I look at their victims the same way I do victims of those Nigerian royalty scams.

I know trying to move domains from there is often a painful experience.

GoDaddy is officially the worst vendor I've ever had to deal with... this one cost me sleep, money and almost a client. ... Essentially, a screw up on their side held our domains hostage for a service we had cancelled with them.
