Pros

  • Giant also has some good deals on like 2 or 3 year old trance models... i think the trance was the one i was more interested in.
  • Mm trances climb beautifully and can handle any dark blue tech and into light black depending on your local trail grading, they have a pretty fun geometry.
  • Got my 11yo a full sus bike a few years ago and his confidence improved immensely. Started doing much bigger drops and jumps. It was an older Giant Trance with 26” wheels.
  • Giant has a good amount of capable hardtails on sale at the moment but unless you are dead set on a hardtail, have a look at the trance for not much more
  • Trance 100%, I've had a lot of bikes over the years and my trance was the best bike I've ever owned. For what you are describing a 29er trance is the ticket

Cons

  • And I don't like any of the older options like dual 27 Giant Trance or even the Commencal Clash.
  • The Giant Trance is okay, for sure, although I'd look more so at a YT Jeffsy or Polygon T8 for an all around value.
  • For instance, my first bike was a heavier giant trance and it was harder to pedal up hill.

The maestro system on the trance is substantially better. Personally I’d pick the trance or the Process.

Ironically I have a 2019 Trance, 27.5” wheel, 160mm from, 140mm rear, -2 deg angled headset. I absolutely love the bike and it handles everything I throw at it. ... My Trance is still great for my local stuff but really the max I would want for around here.

Trance is far and away the best bike here but you already know that
