Reddit take

Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • Check out GTD if you want to learn more (stuff that will expand upon what you've already figured out...)
  • In your case, I think you’d benefit from the Getting Things Done system, specifically the review part.
  • Check out these - Getting Things Done
  • Things only started working after I read Getting Things Done and made my own version in Notion.
  • The original sources, of course. David Allen’s “Getting things done” and Tiago Forte’s “Building a second brain” books.

Cons

  • It's kind of a beast to keep maintained tbh. If you can create the system and put in the time it works great and it's not much work to keep maintained. But it's easy to fall off on and a lot of work to catch back up on.
  • For me it is always keeping the system clean. At some point I stop for whatever reason to be 100% rigorous about it and it decays. With every review I miss it gets more cluttered until it is beyond repair.
  • Worst: Getting things done It felt like it was written pre-internet (it was written in 2001, so internet had existed a while) and focused on time-estimates for everything, which doesn’t work in my industry.
  • if not you might find that book useful. although I'm only about halfway through it so we'll see if I still think its worth while when I get to the end and try out all the suggested systems and whatnot.

I swear by it. I made my 1st video game and am progressing on my 2nd largely due to GTD

Productivity always falls off when you stop following the system, and GTD because of it’s minimal nature it’s easy to get in the flow, for me

What I love about GTD is that it’s pre-internet. It was built in the 80s/90s for paper and folders, so it’s tool-agnostic and focused on thinking, not apps.
