  • However, the GCP shines best when you stick to medium to full city+ roasts, which are easy to pull and in my opinion taste great, and just kind of ignore temperature surfing all together.
  • If I were to double it, I’d get a GCP for the better materials (less plastic etc) and theoretically room for modding if I go down that route
  • 3 weeks later I bought my GCP and gave the cheap machine to my brother.
  • If you want to make espresso a hobby and go down the rabbit hole get the GCP. ... For what its worth I have the GCP, purchased second hand at a very reasonable price and its fantastic but the urge to mod it has been insatiable.

if you feel like you'd want to get more into making espresso and having more control over your extractions then get the GCP as it can be later upgraded with an Arduino that is sold ready to be installed with software and screen so you can program the variables of your espresso extraction to your liking.

Parent context: If you prefer milk-based drinks, have you considered a Bambino or Bambino Plus? I don't know much about the Hobby, but I have some experience with the GCP. If you're unwilling to mod it, it's an extremely poor value proposition. Reply: I've owned both at several points, and the Bambino delivered over 90% of the quality of my Gaggiuino with little to no hassle.

You'll have more control over the experience with the GCP. especially now with the new Brass boilers, the temp consistency will be nice.

The GCP is a fantastic unit. We have a DF54 grinder, GCP and recently finished the PID mod and have been enjoying coffee since.
