I’ve had the 970 for exactly one day. I took it out for a 7 km run and was a bit confused with the button-based controls at first, coming from years of touchscreen use. That said, it’s not difficult to the point where adaptation feels impossible. The application and UI are still quite confusing for me. I’m not always sure where to find certain data, and some pages take a few seconds to load.

I would go with the 970. It has all the latest features and will be fully supported with updates for at least a few more years. It also has brighter screen and a speaker/mic.
