Pros
- Forerunner 955 and Enduro 2 will have everything necessary at good prices, mapping if needed and longest battery to last ironman and associated training.
- Maps and multi-band GPS, which is why I switched to the Forerunner 955.
- Ive got a 955 and those extra stats can be useful, eg seeing training lowering my HRV has had me alter a week here or there, but its not like id be unaware im fatigued without it
- 965 is fantastic, you can go with 955, mip, very similar watch.
- I wouldn't get a 570 , it is in every way inferior to a 955 (around £330) or 965 ( around £450 ) which you can still get. O.K. Doesn't mean it isn't a decent watch but the 955/ 965 have much better battery life and features.
Cons

- then switched to 955
- I'd suggest looking at the Forerunner 255, 265 and 570 and the 955 through 970; at the Instinct 2 and 3, and at the Fenix 7 if price is an object.
- 955 is with maps, and 965 with all just amoled
- I always had a protective screen on my forerunner 955, the moment I took it off for visibility I scratched it a few times.

Just updated my watch after Garmin pushed me to do it for the 100th time. This is right before a big event I've been training for for the best part of a year, and now my watch is factory reseted and won't record HR or steps. The light won't even come out of the sensor. I've been trying it all, reseting, plugging into Garmin Express (that has crashed a few times in itself), and I'm now stuck on a blue triangle.

Get the 955 on a big sale, I actually love the MIP display, and for a data nerd, it's all you need. I personally think it looks a bit better too. I found mine 50% off and love it.
The 955 works well for counting laps/distance but as most know, the wrist based HR is not great in general, and basically worthless for swimming
