Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • Foodsaver and inkbird <$100 each for decent starter setup
  • Buy a vacuum sealer and a few rolls of bags - food quality is perfect and no freezer burn. I’ve had a FoodSaver for 10 years and never had a problem with it.
  • I have an 8 year old FoodSaver that is 2 very similar
  • I got a FoodSaver V4400 for around $200, I've never had an issue with it.
  • I use a FoodSaver. I get enough meat for two weeks, prep it all at once, and toss the food in a freezer.

Cons

  • My foodsaver lasted 5 years before it crapped out.
  • Parent context: Disagree a bit. It is a definitionally oxygen mitigated environment for a food saver job. I know some people double seal them for extra protection. Agree it is not as good and a chamber vac. Reply: Sure. A foodsaver get...
  • I have had a basic Foodsaver for a while and it does the job most of the time, but occasionally frustrates me. It struggles with any amount of moisture and I feel like I have to angle in the open end of the bag perfectly for it to seal....
  • I am tired of FoodSaver vacuum seals failing every few years.
  • I had the same issue as you with "FoodSaver" vacuum sealers [here in the US, not sure if they are n the UK].

Agree it is not as good and a chamber vac. Reply: Sure. A foodsaver get you to 5-10% oxygen. But the commercial packers are doing true vaccums. Thats why they get the ability to 'wet age'.

I have had a basic Foodsaver for a while and it does the job most of the time, but occasionally frustrates me. It struggles with any amount of moisture and I feel like I have to angle in the open end of the bag perfectly for it to seal. Often it takes 2 minutes to complete a seal or I just have to reposition and start over.
