Pros

  • Physically, the Strat is lighter and more comfortable.
  • BTW, that is a kickass looking strat!
  • Get her an electric with a thin neck, like a Tele or a Strat.
  • I got a lefty Strat, and my already-high estimation of Jimi Hendrix's talent doubled upon contact !
  • A Stratocaster is a great guitar, but it's not the best choice for metal.

Cons

  • I tried to play it on my strat and realized it only seems difficult because the tab makes you think OMG 7 frets. It's not even 5 inches
  • I’ve tried Strats, Jazzmasters, Les Pauls, SGs; you name it. None has ever felt (to me) the way a Telecaster does
  • I struggle on my strat but can do it on my Carvin and Warmoth LP
  • I bought a Stratocaster that had this - I just unscrewed hardware to peel it off. Only took a couple of minutes. The crazy thing is that the guitar I bought was used. The previous owner just played it like this. The film was messing up t...
  • Parent context: It helps to have a guitar with a shorter scale length. A strat would be difficult for that. Reply: You got me curious, so I measured. - 10 to 17th on 24.75 scale = 118mm - 10 to 17th on 25.5 scale = 121mm The differen...

I’ll be the one to say a strat can do everything a telecaster can and more. It’s the more versatile of the two models. I love both but if someone asked which model to get as a starter, I’d say the strat.

Strat is much more versatile. Tele is simpler.
