Chrysler Pacifica

The Chrysler Pacifica is a highly polarized minivan, praised for its class-leading utility and interior comfort while being frequently criticized for mechanical and electronic reliability. Owners often describe it as the most comfortable and feature-rich option in its segment, specifically highlighting the 'Stow 'n Go' seating as a major advantage for families and work. However, recurring reports of transmission slippage, infotainment glitches, and hybrid powertrain issues lead many to view it as a better short-term lease or rental than a long-term investment.
Pros
- Stow 'n Go seating allows for rapid transitions between passenger and cargo modes
- Superior interior comfort and styling compared to the Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey
- Highly effective rear-seat air conditioning
- Availability of a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model for gas-free short-distance driving
- Strong tech features and aftermarket parts support for DIY maintenance
Cons
- Persistent long-term reliability concerns cited across multiple model years
- Transmission issues, including slippage and awkward shifting under load
- Electronic glitches affecting sliding doors, wipers, and the start button
- The Uconnect infotainment system is polarizing, with some users finding it frustrating
- Concerns regarding the reliability of the hybrid powertrain specifically
Caveats
- Reliability is a major point of contention; some owners suggest only buying with a lifetime powertrain warranty.
- While the PHEV model is loved for its efficiency, it has a reputation for being less reliable than the standard gas version.
- Safety ratings are described by some users as merely 'acceptable' compared to peers.
Best for
- Families who prioritize interior luxury and cargo flexibility
- Users who need a dual-purpose vehicle for both work hauling and family transport
- Short-distance commuters who can maximize the plug-in hybrid's electric range
Avoid if
- Long-term mechanical reliability is your primary concern
- You want a vehicle with high projected resale value
- You are sensitive to electronic or infotainment software bugs

Pacifica less so and the Carnival is not rated (could be not enough of them on the road to get enough data).
nope it completely didn't work... it was working on the previous Pacifica that i had to return.
All three of them had issues Start button doesn't start consistently (it was like playing Russian roulette on when it would start) 30k miles on the odometer. Hybrid it was nice until the sliding doors stopped working (under 10k miles) and exchanged it for #3. Wipers on the intermittent speeds not working. Under 20k miles
I owned an 18. Wife owned a 2020. Wife got hit and totaled hers, demanded the next was a Pacifica and got her a 2025. It's great other than a weird shift under load sometimes. But I abhor the Uconnect system in general. Great vehicle otherwise
My wife has a FWD Pacifica in Wisconsin with 0 problems. She has lived here all her life but isn't the best driver - 0 getting stuck or accidents.
It has a mature the powertrain and great after market and parts support. They are easy to work on if you are a DIY kind of person.
I like the Pacifica because it's simply more comfortable than the honda. And the rear seat ac, if that ever matters to you, it's way better in the Pacifica than the Odyssey.
Pacifica is one of the best work + family vans out there because of stow n go seating. being able to flip the seats down in a matter of seconds makes adjusting between work and family hauling so easy.
