There's no way is the LS12000 worth $2 grand more. The only bugaboo is the rainbow effect of any DLP projector like the Titan. Epson's pricing on their models is in my opinion out of whack with reality.
The LS12000 is still a perfectly fine projector, and it has real 4K pixel shifting as well which not all Epsons have. It's still for sale (at an inflated Epson-have-lost-the-plot price)
First $8 grand for a mildly upgraded LS12000 in the QB1000 and now this.
But even the long throw QB1000 compared to the LS12000 has only made incremental improvements.
The LS12000 is a very mildly worse variant of the QB1000.
If I had your budget I’d probably go for the LS12000. Proven performer, solid company with worldwide support, parts. Epson is in the holy trinity of HT projector manufacturers for good reasons.
The next mounting point I came up with is a wall 6.5m away and about 2.5m high which seemed tenable if i went for something with a bigger zoom, like an Epson ls12000. Budget wasn’t meant to be that high but it’s tolerable.
