Emu oil is highly praised in skincare communities for its intense moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties. Users frequently describe it as a "game changer" for healing damaged moisture barriers and soothing reactive skin without clogging pores. It is often used as a final step in a routine or as a carrier oil to help other products penetrate more deeply.
Pros
- Highly effective at hydrating and moisturizing dry or sensitive skin
- Non-comedogenic; users report it does not clog pores or cause breakouts
- Provides anti-inflammatory support and helps heal the skin barrier
- Absorbs well into the skin, leaving a 'dewy glow' rather than a greasy residue
- Simple, single-ingredient product with no fillers
Cons
- Results may be temporary; one user noted skin improvements disappeared if application stopped for 24 hours
Caveats
- Acts as a potent carrier oil that can cause other active ingredients or medications to penetrate deeper, which may increase sensitivity
- Animal-derived product; not suitable for those seeking vegan skincare
Best for
- Dry, sensitive, or reactive skin types
- Repairing a compromised moisture barrier
- Users looking for a simple, single-ingredient moisturizer
- Balancing oily skin by preventing over-stripping of natural oils
Avoid if
- You strictly use vegan or plant-based products
- You are concerned about the increased potency of other actives in your routine

I tried emu oil, creams with urea, panthenol, cosrx snail 92, cicaplast baume b5+ and many others. I see some temporary improvement but when I don't apply any cream for 24h the "gained" improvement disappears.
Next, I apply Emu Oil. It hydrates, moisturizes and provides anti-inflammatory support for my skin...I LOVE this for my skin and haven't used a more effective product ever in my life...and I've tried so many!
And the Emu Oil is my personal favorite to keep my skin moisturized...it's been the only thing to help my skin heal and actually improve over time.
Something to keep in mind if using medication or actives on your face with Emu Oil, is that it can help those products penetrate more deeply into your skin as it's a very good carrier oil. This can be both a good and bad thing depending on how your skin feels about it! But overall I have found this to be a positive effect.
I use Emu Oil as my only moisturizer and it has completely healed my moisture barrier. Emu Oil has anti-inflammatory properties and deeply penetrates the skin.
My last step is always Emu Oil...it's been the best product to keep my moisture barrier happy...doesn't clog my pores and gives my skin a beautiful glow!
I cannot say enough good things about Emu Oil...it's just amazing and has 100% improved my skin! It's got a beautiful silky texture, no real scent, and goes on like a dream...sinks in, and leaves my skin smooth, moisturized and glowing.
Over time, treating my oily skin like dry skin (cleaning balm and applying Emu Oil daily), sorted out the issue. I stopped stripping my skin's natural oils, and my skin stopped over producing oil.
I use, and swear by, Emu Oil...it doesn't clog my pores, absorbs into my skin, while still feeling very nourishing, and gives me a nice dewy glow for hours after I apply it! Emu Oil is the only product that has ever really healed my dry, sensitive, reactive skin...I cannot say enough good things about it.
I follow cleansing with Emu Oil and then SPF in the AM (I like Youthscreen by Youth to the People)
