Pros

  • Yes, used DN and also DT are excellent bang for the buck for the current used prices.
  • Digitone is literally strickily a synth, other than the small selection of transients in the drum synth. It is one of the best synths available.
  • The digitone fills in the gaps the trackers sequencer cannot do. The digitone is immensely powerful FM synth.
  • If it's the latter, the DN1 is brilliant.
  • I would say so. I picked one up a couple of months ago and have used it a lot, and I feel like I've barely scratched the surface

Cons

  • digitone
  • Parent context: Yeah, I never owned a regular digitone, or electron box before this so can’t say for sure but I feel like I wouldn’t really enjoy using the digitone without some sort of controller for it. You can get some much expresssio...
  • I'd never used a tracker before and decided to give it a shot after not really gelling with a Digitone or my eurorack.
  • I used to use hardware a lot more and have a whole arsenal of hardware synths like Peak, Pro-3, Digitone, System-1 and about 6-7 others

Parent context: The digitone is great but I just can never gel with the elektron system. Reply: Regarding the Digitone 2, i enjoyed following and replicating Cuckoo’s excellent tutorial, it made it all click in my mind.

Digitone is relatively easy, it treats all the fm stuff more or less like a very tweakable oscillator that you can then tame with subtractive staples like filters, envelopes, lfo’s and such.

You can get some much expresssion from the velocity, mod, and after touch that you would totally miss with just the digitone box.
